Thai authorities on the island of Koh Phangan have revoked the visa of an Israeli woman, citing multiple incidents of alleged misconduct and aggressive behavior. The 33-year-old, Ensav Ashual, was accused of directing abusive language towards authorities and refusing to pay for accommodation and entrance fees at Than Sadet Ko Phangan National Park, according to local reports. Ashual, who worked as an art therapist and breathwork guide, is the third Israeli national to have her visa revoked on the island this year.

The committee overseeing foreign behavior on Koh Samui, which includes Koh Phangan, did not specify the type of visa Ashual held. Israeli nationals are typically allowed visa-free entry for tourism but are not permitted to work in Thailand. Since January, ten foreign nationals have had their visas withdrawn on the island.

The incident follows a series of controversies involving Israeli tourists in Thailand, particularly since the escalation of the Israel-Gaza conflict in October 2023. Thailand, along with other Southeast Asian countries, has seen an influx of Israeli travelers, including many former soldiers. Critics have expressed concerns about alleged illegal activities and disrespectful behavior by some Israeli visitors.

Thailand has maintained diplomatic relations with Israel but has expressed concerns to Israeli officials about the behavior of some of its citizens. The Thai government has emphasized the importance of respecting local laws and cultural norms.

**Context:** The revocation of Ashual's visa highlights broader tensions between Thai authorities and some Israeli visitors, fueled by recent geopolitical events and longstanding cultural differences. This incident underscores the delicate balance Thailand must maintain between welcoming foreign tourists and enforcing its laws and cultural expectations.
