New Mobile Police Unit Launched in Casablanca

Casablanca, Morocco — The General Directorate of National Security in Morocco officially launched a new mobile police unit, the Mobile Emergency Police Unit (UMPS), in the Ain Sebaa El Mahmoudi district of Casablanca on October 22. This initiative aims to bolster on-ground security presence and effectively address the needs of residents in this crucial urban hub.
The new unit is part of a broader strategy to deploy emergency police teams across various security zones in Casablanca. This comprehensive approach seeks to bring policing services closer to citizens, enhance security coverage in major residential areas, and adapt to the city's rapid geographic expansion and demographic growth.
Operationally, the new mobile unit is integrated with the main command and coordination center of the Casablanca Security Directorate and the local command and coordination room in Ain Sebaa El Mahmoudi. This center manages the communication network via the emergency line 19 and oversees the urban surveillance camera network, ensuring the receipt of initial data and the precise direction of field patrols.
To ensure immediate intervention, the new unit is equipped with advanced communication devices and portable cameras, enabling real-time documentation of all security interventions. This advanced technology ensures high levels of transparency and professionalism in handling emergency calls from citizens.
The launch of this unit reflects the General Directorate of National Security's ongoing commitment to its comprehensive plan for developing policing services and updating field units. This plan aims to provide modern, fast vehicles that improve working conditions for police officers and enhance the quality of response to emergency calls, thereby reinforcing public safety.
CONTEXT: The launch of the new Mobile Emergency Police Unit in Casablanca is significant as it demonstrates Morocco's proactive approach to enhancing urban security. By deploying advanced technology and strategic planning, the country aims to improve response times and public safety, addressing the challenges posed by rapid urban growth and demographic changes.
