France, Germany Agree on New 2035 Vehicle Emission Rules

France and Germany have reached an agreement that allows vehicles with internal combustion engines to remain on the market until 2035, provided they run on e-fuels. This deal modifies the European Union's previous commitment to end sales of new petrol and diesel cars by 2035. The agreement was reached despite the EU's existing plans to phase out such vehicles in favor of electric ones.
