Morocco and France Launch Joint International Campus in Fez

The University of Euro-Mediterranean in Fez (UEMF) and Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne University inaugurated a joint international campus in Fez, Morocco, on a day marking a decade of academic cooperation between the two institutions.
The event, held at the Eco-Campus UEMF, was attended by university presidents, faculty, and students. Mustafa Bousmina, President of the University of Euro-Mediterranean in Fez, highlighted the significance of the joint campus as a milestone in the academic partnership between the two universities.
Bousmina emphasized that the joint campus represents more than a ceremonial event, marking a significant step in a shared scientific and humanitarian journey that began in 2016. He noted the campus aims to build sustainable bridges between universities, disciplines, cultures, and continents.
He expressed gratitude to the faculty of Paris 1 and other French and European universities for their contributions to high-level educational programs. He also referenced the historic inscription on the Pantheon in Paris, adapting it to honor those who have given the partnership its spirit and essence.
Bousmina stated that the inauguration of the joint international campus signals a new chapter in Moroccan-French academic relations, aligning with the declarations made by King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron during Macron's state visit to Morocco in 2024.
The joint campus aims to enhance existing educational programs and become a comprehensive international space for education, scientific research, innovation, and cultural dialogue, addressing rapid societal changes and contemporary challenges.
Context: This development underscores the deepening of academic ties between Morocco and France, reflecting a broader trend of international cooperation in higher education. It also highlights the strategic importance of Morocco as a hub for academic and cultural exchange in the Mediterranean region.
