Tunisia Plans to Phase Out Windshield Insurance Stickers by 2027

Tunisia is set to eliminate the physical insurance stickers on vehicle windshields by 2027. The announcement was made by the acting director general of the Tunisian Federation of Insurance Companies (FTUSA), Imed Hamdi, on October 20, 2026, during an interview on Express FM.
Hamdi stated that this change is part of a broader initiative to digitalize the insurance verification process. The move aims to streamline procedures and reduce the administrative burden on both insurance companies and vehicle owners.
Currently, vehicle owners in Tunisia are required to display an insurance sticker on their windshields as proof of valid insurance. This physical sticker is issued by insurance companies and must be renewed annually. The proposed change would replace this physical sticker with a digital system, allowing authorities to verify insurance status electronically.
The digitalization of the insurance verification process is expected to enhance efficiency and accuracy. It will also help in reducing the instances of fraud and ensure that all vehicles on the road are properly insured. The new system will likely involve the use of mobile apps or online databases where vehicle owners can access and display their insurance information digitally.
