Abdul-Kabir Tabih, a prominent lawyer in Morocco, has submitted his final resignation from the Moroccan Bar Association and the Casablanca Bar Council. The resignation, announced on Monday, comes just months before the professional elections scheduled for December. Tabih had previously expressed his intention to run for the professional elections.

In his resignation letter, addressed to the President of the Casablanca Bar and the President of the Moroccan Bar Association, Tabih did not disclose the reasons behind his decision. However, sources within the legal community suggest that his resignation is a protest against certain individuals who had asked him to take on professional responsibilities and then supported other colleagues.

Tabih, a notable figure within the Socialist Union of Popular Forces party, stated that his commitment, loyalty, and defense of the profession are non-negotiable. His resignation has been perceived by some colleagues as a withdrawal from the competition for the position of the President of the Casablanca Bar, which is set to take place in December.

Despite Tabih's resignation, the competition for the position of the President of the Casablanca Bar remains intense. Notable candidates include Yusuf Abdul Qawi, the General Secretary of the Bar, who enjoys support from several lawyers and representatives of legal associations. Other potential candidates include Karim Sharaybi, former Treasurer of the Bar, Tarik Zouhair, Abdelfattah Al-Wadghiri, Khalid Hellal, and Bouchaib Zlwash.

Candidates are currently holding consultative meetings with their colleagues in preparation for the professional elections, which are scheduled to take place in December in accordance with the new Law on the Legal Profession.

**Context:** This development is significant as it marks a shift in the political landscape of the Moroccan legal community ahead of crucial elections. The resignation of a prominent figure like Tabih and the intense competition for the position of the President of the Casablanca Bar highlight the dynamics and challenges within the profession.
