Turkey's Noah's Ark Discovery Debunked as AI-Generated Hoax

Turkish authorities have confirmed that viral videos claiming to show Noah's Ark in Eastern Turkey are AI-generated hoaxes. The videos, which circulated widely on social media platforms, were debunked as completely fabricated using advanced AI technology, with the intention of generating millions of views.
The videos, which surfaced in the past few days, claimed to show archaeological findings of Noah's Ark in the Dourubinar region of Mount Ararat. However, thorough investigations revealed significant flaws in the footage, including the appearance of people as digital artifacts, inconsistencies in the dimensions of the structures, and the disappearance of lifting ropes, all common errors in AI-generated imagery.
Agri Governor Ondar Buzkurt, along with the academic leader of the research team, Cenk Atilla, emphasized that there is no scientific evidence to support the existence of any remains or structures of the ark. They stated that the investigations relied on geophysical radar and soil samples analyzed in official laboratories, urging the public to avoid following rumors and rely solely on verified academic statements.
The hoax videos, which were shared on platforms like TikTok and Instagram, have garnered tens of millions of views, exploiting the genuine archaeological research conducted in the region. The videos were presented as if they were part of real field research, involving archaeological teams and international documentary crews, which added to their credibility.
This incident highlights the growing challenge of misinformation and the need for public vigilance in verifying the authenticity of online content, especially when it comes to sensational claims related to historical or archaeological discoveries.
CONTEXT: The debunking of the Noah's Ark videos underscores the importance of critical thinking and media literacy in the digital age, where advanced technologies can be used to create convincing but false narratives. It also serves as a reminder of the significance of relying on verified scientific evidence and official statements in evaluating extraordinary claims.
