Moroccan Photographer Exhibits Work in Spain

Moroccan photographer Adel Azmat presented his latest artistic project, RAMADÁNI-ART 2026, at the Colectivo Imagen association in Fuengirola, Spain, on Saturday. The exhibition is the culmination of a photographic project that began during the month of Ramadan in 2024.
The project, titled RAMADÁNI-ART, involved Azmat taking one photograph each day during Ramadan and publishing it immediately after breaking the fast. This daily commitment was a form of creative discipline for the artist, who described it as a search for visual nourishment. Azmat, who was born in 1981 in Chefchaouen, Morocco, is an active member of the PhotoEstepona photography group.
Azmat's work is known for its diverse aesthetic, ranging from minimalism to architectural photography, collage, and nature themes. His photographs are noted for their sensitive and expert composition, often reinterpreting reality rather than merely documenting it.
Azmat's photographs have been featured in various publications and exhibitions. The Spanish magazine Revista FV published an article about his work in issue 242. He also participated in the third edition of the traveling group exhibition organized by the Centro de la Fotografía en Málaga, alongside 91 other photographers. One of his photographs was selected for the cover of the book Antología del zéjel contemporáneo marroquí, published by the University of Seville in 2024.
The exhibition is being held at the Colectivo Imagen association, which has been promoting photographic culture since 1983 and is one of the oldest photographic groups in the Andalusia region. This is the second iteration of the RAMADÁNI-ART project, the first having been shown at the PhotoEstepona group in Estepona from April to May 2026.
CONTEXT: This exhibition highlights the growing presence of Moroccan artists in the Spanish art scene, fostering cultural exchange and dialogue between the two countries. It also underscores the evolving nature of contemporary photography, blending traditional practices with modern digital techniques.
