Zoom Unveils AI-Powered Features for Enhanced Business Operations

Zoom has introduced a suite of AI-powered features designed to enhance business operations beyond video calls. The new capabilities, announced at the Zoomtopia conference, will be rolled out gradually until early 2027.
Key updates include the Unified Context Layer, a system that integrates conversations, documents, and information from various applications like Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Workday. This layer connects people, decisions, and topics to provide a shared context for AI agents, potentially reducing costs by 45% to 65% compared to independent agents, according to internal tests by Zoom.
Zoom has also launched ZoomMate Agent Teams, which distributes tasks among specialized agents working in parallel, overseen by a primary agent who reviews the results. The smart search feature allows access to information from over 40 external applications.
Enhancements to My Notes include the ability to send meeting summaries to other applications and automate tasks. An upcoming standalone app will allow for the recording of in-person conversations. Additional features include personalized notes and summaries for absentees, linking screen captures to conversation segments, and integrating meetings with customer management and invoicing through Zoom for Business Owners.
Zoom is developing real-time translation for participants without requiring separate subscriptions for each listener. The technology includes voice cloning, improved voice clarity and accent handling, video adjustments for gaze direction, and screen sharing at 60 frames per second. Future plans include an in-meeting assistant that suggests responses and updates to the chat feature for organizing replies, notifications, and agent involvement in conversations, along with interactive activities like quizzes and word clouds.
Updates for mobile apps and customer service include smart screens, integration with Microsoft Teams, Cisco devices, and Google Beam meetings, WhatsApp messaging via Zoom Phone, and anticipated virtual receptionist services. For developers, Zoom has expanded APIs and launched 15 AI services, including voice agents, translation, transcription, and summarization, with a unified development platform.
**Context:** These advancements by Zoom highlight the growing integration of AI in business communication tools, aiming to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance productivity through automated tasks and improved collaboration features.
