Qualcomm Denies Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Overheating Claims

Qualcomm has refuted reports suggesting that its forthcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor experiences overheating issues. The company addressed these claims after South Korean reports indicated that Samsung might exclude the processor from some of its upcoming smartphones due to thermal concerns.
Qualcomm, through a spokesperson, confirmed to 9to5Google that it continues to develop its leading platform in collaboration with global smartphone manufacturers. The goal is to deliver exceptional user experiences. Don McGuaire, Qualcomm's marketing director, emphasized on X that there are no widespread thermal issues with the processor.
Leaks suggest that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 will feature two cores with a clock speed up to 5 gigahertz, along with significant performance improvements in both the central and graphics processors compared to its predecessor. Several devices have been announced to adopt the new processor, including the Motorola Signature 27, Xiaomi 18, Redmagic 12 Pro Plus, Honor Magic 9 Pro Max, and OnePlus 16. However, Samsung's final stance remains undetermined, amid discussions about potentially using its in-house Exynos 2700 processor instead.
CONTEXT: This news matters because Qualcomm's Snapdragon processors are widely used in smartphones globally, and any issues with them could impact major manufacturers' product strategies and consumer choices.
