Audi to Build $4 Billion Manufacturing Plant in Georgia

Audi AG, the German luxury automaker, has announced plans to construct a $4 billion manufacturing plant in Georgia, United States. The facility, scheduled to begin construction in 2027, will create approximately 4,500 direct jobs and produce up to 200,000 vehicles annually, primarily premium SUVs tailored to the North American market. The plant is expected to start production in the early 2030s.
The investment is part of Audi's broader strategy to establish North America as a third major manufacturing hub, alongside Europe and China. This move aims to strengthen Audi's position in one of the world's largest premium automotive markets and reduce its reliance on imported vehicles, mitigating risks associated with import tariffs, trade disruptions, and currency fluctuations.
The Middle Georgia Mega Site was chosen for its robust infrastructure, skilled workforce, extensive automotive supplier network, and strategic logistics connectivity. The location also provides ample space for future expansion. The facility will employ advanced manufacturing technologies and flexible production processes to adapt to evolving market demands.
Gerd Walker, Audi's board member for production and logistics, highlighted the strategic advantage of building a new plant from the ground up, allowing for innovative manufacturing approaches. The investment is anticipated to generate additional opportunities for suppliers, logistics companies, and service providers in the region.
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp expressed enthusiasm about the project, emphasizing its significance for the state's automotive manufacturing industry. The plant is expected to bolster Georgia's position as a key player in the global automotive sector, further enhancing its economic growth and job market.
