Thousands of Iraqis took to the streets in Baghdad and several other provinces on Sunday, marking the seventh anniversary of the 2019 protests. Demonstrators called for reforms, anti-corruption measures, and accountability for those responsible for the deaths of protesters during the 2019 demonstrations.

Security forces implemented measures to manage the protests, ensuring they remained peaceful. Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaydi expressed gratitude to the peaceful protesters, acknowledging their cooperation with security forces. He stated that the protesters' demands had been received and would be addressed, emphasizing his commitment to serving the Iraqi people.

Al-Zaydi also highlighted that the government remains open to constructive dialogue that serves the national interest. The 2019 protests, known as the October protests, began on October 1, 2019, and intensified on October 25, resulting in hundreds of deaths and thousands of injuries.
