Algeria Launches National Flu Vaccination Campaign

Algeria has launched a national vaccination campaign against seasonal influenza for the 2026-2027 season. The campaign, which began on October 27, 2026, aims to enhance preventive healthcare and reduce the risks of influenza and its complications, particularly among high-risk groups. The Ministry of Health had previously set this date for the campaign's official start, following directives from the General Directorate for Prevention and Health Promotion.
The campaign focuses on several high-risk groups, including individuals aged 65 and above, those with chronic diseases such as heart, respiratory, kidney, and diabetes, as well as individuals with immune deficiencies. Pregnant women, healthcare professionals, and pilgrims are also prioritized due to the importance of preventing infection and reducing the likelihood of health complications that may require medical intervention.
Vaccinations are being administered at multi-service clinics, mother and child protection centers, and health centers. The healthcare institutions have organized the campaign to facilitate access to the vaccine and ensure the distribution of healthcare services in an orderly manner. The campaign is part of Algeria's broader efforts to enhance public health and reduce the burden of seasonal influenza.
