Algeria to Acquire Drones, Helicopters for National Security

Algeria's Ministry of the Interior plans to acquire two helicopters and drones for national security purposes as part of its 2027 budget. The ministry aims to enhance police capabilities and modernize its services through technological advancements.

The helicopters will support operational police units in various regions, while drones will be used for surveillance to execute police tasks more effectively. The ministry also intends to renew its vehicle fleet, focusing on replacing vehicles older than ten years.

Additionally, the ministry will allocate funds to update forensic analysis equipment, enhancing the capabilities of specialized laboratories. This initiative is part of a broader effort to digitize police services and integrate advanced technologies.

Funding will also be directed towards improving the salaries and benefits of national security personnel, including police officers, support staff, and contractors. The ministry will cover pre-retirement salaries and benefits for terrorism victims, totaling 2500 individuals.

Furthermore, the ministry will support families of security personnel with family allowances, compensation for work-related injuries, and promotions for 85,000 support staff. It will also provide regional allowances and promotion bonuses for 14,000 higher-ranking officials.

In addition to these measures, the ministry plans to allocate financial resources to healthcare institutions under the National Security Directorate. This funding will cover the salaries of 1,871 medical staff positions and operational costs to ensure the smooth functioning of these institutions.
