The Spurs coach, Mitch Johnson, had been considering this lineup change for some time. The decision to deploy the three-guard lineup came after weeks of experimentation and evaluation during training sessions and earlier preseason games.
De'Aaron Fox, a key player for the Spurs, has been a consistent performer this preseason. He has shown his ability to lead the team both offensively and defensively. Dylan Harper, a promising young guard, has also been making strides, demonstrating his potential to contribute significantly to the team's success.
