Israeli authorities have extended the administrative detention of Palestinian journalist Bishara Al-Taloni, 33, from Ramallah, for an additional four months, as of October 12, 2026. Al-Taloni has been in solitary confinement for 50 days, experiencing difficult health and psychological conditions, and has been subjected to beatings, according to her family and lawyer.

Al-Taloni is currently held in solitary confinement at Ohli Kidar Prison in Beersheba, Southern occupied Palestine, having been transferred between several prisons and solitary confinement units, which has made it difficult to monitor her condition and detention circumstances.

The Palestinian Prisoners' Club reported that legal efforts are being made to pressure for an end to her solitary confinement and release. However, legal teams face challenges in conducting visits due to her frequent transfers between prisons. The Club also warned of increased targeting of Palestinian female detainees through administrative detention, solitary confinement, torture, and denial of medical treatment, and highlighted the spread of scabies among female detainees in Israeli prisons.

The number of female detainees held in administrative detention, without charge or trial, has increased to 21 out of 87 female detainees in Israeli prisons, following a four-month administrative detention order issued against Samar Hamad from Bireh, who was detained on October 5, 2026.

The Palestinian Prisoners' Club called on international rights bodies, including the International Committee of the Red Cross, to urgently intervene to end Al-Taloni's solitary confinement, ensure her protection, and work towards her release, as well as monitor the violations she and other Palestinian female detainees face in Israeli prisons.

Al-Taloni is one of the detainees who have faced administrative detention in recent years. She is the daughter of administrative detainee Jamal Al-Taloni, who spent years in Israeli prisons. The United Nations Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners, known as the 'Nelson Mandela Rules,' prohibit indefinite and prolonged solitary confinement, defining it as the confinement of prisoners for 22 hours or more a day without meaningful human contact.
