Hamas Accuses Israel of Violating Gaza Ceasefire Agreement

Hamas has accused Israel of systematically violating a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, with the spokesperson, Hazem Qasem, stating that the Israeli occupation continues to breach the terms of the ceasefire, resulting in approximately 1,500 fatalities and around 5,000 injuries. This comes as Israel continues to restrict the entry of aid and reconstruction materials into Gaza, and has not stopped the killing and starvation of Palestinians. Qasem also accused Israel of expanding its control over Gaza's territories, maintaining closures of crossings, and restricting the movement of citizens.
Qasem warned of an imminent massacre in Gaza due to ongoing airstrikes, destruction of homes, and displacement of residents. He rejected Israeli claims justifying the escalation of military operations. Hamas reaffirmed its commitment to the ceasefire agreement and called on all parties to uphold their responsibilities, pressuring Israel to stop violations and ensure the implementation of the agreement and the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
Qasem emphasized the importance of holding elections, describing them as a fundamental right of the Palestinian people and a national entitlement that should not be politicized or delayed. He criticized the continued suspension of elections and the monopolization of national decision-making, which he said has led to the erosion of the legitimacy of Palestinian institutions. Qasem called for a comprehensive and serious national dialogue to end the division, restore national unity, and set clear guarantees for holding elections, preventing further delays or using them as a cover for the ongoing political crisis.
Context: The ongoing conflict in Gaza has resulted in significant loss of life and infrastructure. The ceasefire agreement, while intended to bring stability, has faced challenges due to ongoing violations and political tensions. The situation highlights the broader issues of Palestinian governance and the need for international intervention to ensure the implementation of agreements and the provision of humanitarian aid.
