CoreWeave's stock price experienced a sharp decline of over 11% on Friday, reaching near its lowest point for the year. This drop followed remarks by Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, who expressed optimism about the AI firm despite its financial challenges.

The stock fell to $61.78 shortly before 1 p.m. EDT, marking a 21% decrease over the past five trading days. Huang's comments on Thursday, where he noted that CoreWeave's cost of capital is decreasing, initially boosted the stock by 5.9% at the close of trading on Thursday.

Nvidia, under Huang's leadership, holds approximately a 10% stake in CoreWeave and invested an additional $2 billion in the AI cloud computing company in January. Despite this investment, CoreWeave's shares have fallen by 10.3% since the start of the year, after peaking at $138 in May.

CoreWeave operates data centers that have seen high demand due to the AI boom. However, the company faces significant concerns over its debt, which stands at roughly $52 billion. This debt load exceeds CoreWeave's market capitalization of $35 billion, raising investor concerns about its ability to repay.

The yield to maturity on CoreWeave's 9.75% bond due in 2031 has reached 15.7%, indicating a decline in investor confidence. Despite reporting $2.5 billion in revenue in the second quarter of 2026, up 112% year-over-year, investors remain worried about the company's ability to manage its debt obligations.

**Context:** CoreWeave's stock volatility highlights the challenges and opportunities in the AI and cloud computing sectors. The company's significant debt and market performance are under intense scrutiny, reflecting broader investor concerns about the sustainability of high-growth tech companies amidst economic uncertainties.
