Algeria and Turkey have agreed to enhance cooperation in organ transplant training, with a focus on liver and kidney transplants. The agreement was discussed during the second Turkish Medical Conference held in Sétif, Algeria, on Friday. The conference was hosted by the Golden Rose Hotel and featured international experts, including Professor Ramzi Emir Oglu, Head of the Organ Transplant Department at the Medipol Mega University Hospital Group in Turkey.

The conference aimed to exchange medical expertise and explore new avenues for training and cooperation in this specialized field. It attracted a significant number of doctors, surgeons, and healthcare professionals from the region. Topics covered included liver and kidney transplants, liver tumors, minimally invasive surgeries, and robotic surgeries.

The conference also addressed the management of liver and kidney failure in children, which requires advanced surgical expertise and equipment. Early diagnosis and patient selection were highlighted as crucial factors for successful transplant operations.

This collaboration is expected to result in the training of approximately 80 Algerian doctors in organ transplantation techniques over the next few years.

CONTEXT: This development is significant as it addresses the critical need for advanced medical training and expertise in organ transplantation, particularly in regions where such specialized care is limited. The collaboration between Algeria and Turkey aims to enhance healthcare capabilities and improve patient outcomes in both countries.
