Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) has successfully priced a $1.75 billion dual-tranche bond offering, with proceeds earmarked for renewable energy and green grid projects. The offering, announced Monday, includes both green and conventional notes.

The green tranche, totaling $1.1 billion, will finance or refinance eligible renewable energy generation and green grid projects. These projects align with TAQA’s Green and Blue Finance Framework, which permits the use of proceeds for network infrastructure. The conventional tranche, amounting to $650 million, will be used for general corporate purposes.

The bond offering attracted strong demand from domestic, regional, and international investors, with the orderbook being more than three times oversubscribed. This transaction marks the first public benchmark from an Abu Dhabi Green, Renewable, and Energy Efficiency (GRE) entity since March 2026.

The green notes will mature on April 26, 2032, with a coupon of 5.875%, while the conventional notes will mature on October 26, 2036, with a coupon of 6.125%. The successful issuance underscores the sustained investor appetite for high-quality Abu Dhabi credit, according to TAQA.

This bond offering is part of TAQA’s 2030 Vision for Sustainable and Profitable Growth, under which the company has invested nearly $10 billion in energy transition projects between 2021 and 2025. The proceeds from the bond will contribute to the company's ongoing efforts to invest in resilient grids, renewable energy, and sustainable water solutions.

This transaction follows TAQA’s $750 million Blue Bond issued in July 2026, which was the largest Blue Bond issued by an integrated power and water utility globally and the largest ever issued in the EMEA region. Upon settlement, TAQA will have issued $3.7 billion of Green and Blue labelled bonds since 2023, including $1.85 billion in 2026 alone.

Jasim Husain Thabet, Group CEO and Managing Director of TAQA, emphasized the strategic importance of the issuance, stating that renewable power only creates value when networks can deliver it to homes and businesses. He highlighted TAQA’s disciplined approach to capital management and a strong balance sheet, which provide competitive access to funding and flexibility for continued investment in sustainable solutions.

CONTEXT: This investment is significant as it demonstrates the growing global interest in renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure. It also highlights the financial strategies employed by major energy companies to fund their transition towards greener operations.
