Multiple studies have examined whether deodorants and antiperspirants, particularly those containing aluminium salts, increase the risk of breast cancer.

Aluminium salts are commonly used in antiperspirants to block sweat glands. Some research has suggested that these salts may mimic estrogen in the body, potentially influencing the growth of breast cancer cells. However, the evidence linking aluminium salts to breast cancer remains inconclusive.

One study found that women who used deodorants and antiperspirants frequently had a higher concentration of aluminium in their breast tissue. Another study suggested that the use of these products might increase the risk of breast cancer in younger women. However, other studies have found no significant association between the use of these products and breast cancer risk.

Public health experts recommend that individuals concerned about the potential risks should consider using aluminium-free deodorants and antiperspirants. These products are widely available and can be found in many health and beauty stores. Additionally, some experts suggest reducing the frequency of use or opting for natural alternatives.

It is important to note that while the research is ongoing, the current evidence does not provide a definitive answer. The American Cancer Society and other health organizations have stated that there is no clear evidence linking the use of deodorants and antiperspirants to an increased risk of breast cancer.
