King Mohammed VI of Morocco chaired a meeting at the Royal Palace in Rabat to discuss the progress of significant port projects in Nador and Tangier. The projects, Nador West Med and the expansion of Tangier Med, are set to bolster Morocco's logistics, industrial, and energy capabilities. The first phase of the Nador West Med port is expected to begin operations in the coming days, while the Tangier Med expansion includes the launch of a new port, Tangier Med 3.

The meeting, part of a series focused on developing Morocco's major port projects, included presentations from the heads of the Tangier Med Special Agency and Nador West Med. They updated the King on the progress and future development stages of these projects, which align with the royal vision to enhance Morocco's competitiveness in the global value chain.

The Nador West Med project, with a total investment of 54 billion dirhams, includes infrastructure for port, industrial, logistics, and energy sectors. The first container terminal, set to begin operations soon, will have a capacity of 3.5 million containers. A second terminal, scheduled for April 2027, will add another 1.8 million containers, requiring an additional 8 billion dirhams in private investment.

The energy component includes a fuel station with a storage capacity of 4 million cubic meters and a liquefied natural gas station capable of processing 5 billion cubic meters annually. These investments are part of Morocco's efforts to enhance energy security, in line with the King's directives. Additional terminals for bulk goods and various other goods are also planned. The industrial zone, already operational, currently houses several facilities.

The projects aim to create job opportunities and economic growth in the surrounding regions, contributing to Morocco's overall development and competitiveness. The developments are expected to have a tangible impact on the local population, fostering value creation within the territorial domains.
