··2 min read
Microsoft has started deploying a new right-click menu for Windows 11, offering users customization options for the first time. The update, part of the optional KB5127936, began rolling out on October 28 and will be installed on all compatible PCs by November 10.
The new menu reduces the number of options from twenty to eight, aiming to improve speed and efficiency. Users can now personalize the menu to display only their most frequently used options, enhancing the overall user experience.
This update is part of Microsoft's ongoing efforts to refine and improve Windows 11, which was first released in October 2021. The operating system has seen several updates since its launch, with Microsoft continually gathering user feedback to make enhancements.
Users who wish to access the new menu immediately can download the optional KB5127936 update. This update is not mandatory and users can choose to wait for the automatic installation on November 10.
Microsoft has not specified the exact criteria for compatibility, but the update is expected to be available for most Windows 11 users. The company has been gradually rolling out updates to ensure stability and address any potential issues before full deployment.
This update is significant as it addresses one of the most common user requests since the release of Windows 11: the ability to customize the right-click menu. The previous menu was criticized for its lack of customization options, which often led to a cluttered interface with many unused options.
Microsoft has been actively seeking user feedback to improve Windows 11, and this update is a direct response to that feedback. The company has been known to incorporate user suggestions into their updates, making the operating system more user-friendly over time.
In addition to the customizable right-click menu, the update includes other improvements and bug fixes. Microsoft has not provided a detailed list of all changes, but users can expect general performance enhancements and stability improvements.
With this update, Microsoft continues to demonstrate its commitment to enhancing the user experience on Windows 11. The company has been working on making the operating system more intuitive and efficient, and this update is a step in that direction.
