DR Congo Refugee to Compete in Dakar 2026 Youth Olympics

Arno Yafunga Botay, a refugee from the Democratic Republic of Congo, will compete in the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympics as part of the Refugee Olympic Team.
Botay, who fled his home country in 2017, has been training diligently to represent the Refugee Olympic Team.
He will be one of the athletes participating in the judo events at the Youth Olympics, which will be held in Senegal.
Botay's journey to the Youth Olympics began when he and his family left the Democratic Republic of Congo in 2017.
He has since dedicated himself to judo, using the sport as a means to overcome the challenges he faced as a refugee.
Botay's participation in the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympics marks a significant milestone for the Refugee Olympic Team, which aims to provide refugees with a platform to showcase their talents and inspire others.
As he prepares for the competition, Botay is determined to prove that refugees belong in the world of sports and can achieve greatness despite their circumstances.
