NFL Fines Bears QB Caleb Williams for Cleat Violation

Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has been fined $23,882 by the NFL for wearing non-compliant cleats during a Week 7 game.

The fine was confirmed by a source to ESPN on Thursday. Williams was seen wearing Caddix cleats, which do not meet the league's uniform and equipment regulations.

This is not the first time Williams has faced a fine for his choice of footwear. He was previously fined for a similar infraction earlier in the season.

The NFL has strict rules regarding the equipment players can wear during games. All footwear must be approved by the league to ensure player safety and maintain a level playing field.

Caddix cleats are not on the NFL's approved list of footwear. The company has not yet commented on the situation.

The Bears are currently in the midst of a challenging season, and the fine adds to the team's list of off-field issues. The team has struggled with injuries and inconsistent play, leading to a disappointing record.

Williams, a rookie quarterback, has shown flashes of potential but has also faced criticism for his decision-making and accuracy. The fine is unlikely to affect his playing time, but it serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to league rules.

Fines for equipment violations are common in the NFL. Players are often fined for wearing non-compliant uniforms, helmets, or other equipment. The fines can range from a few thousand dollars to tens of thousands, depending on the severity of the infraction.

Williams' fine is one of the larger ones handed out this season, but it is not the largest. Other players have been fined for more serious violations, such as wearing non-compliant helmets or uniforms.
