Israel Intensifies Military Operations in South Lebanon

Israeli military forces intensified their operations in South Lebanon on Friday, targeting several towns with artillery shelling, house demolitions, and extensive search operations.
In the town of Al-Tiri, located in the district of Bint Jbeil, Israeli forces conducted a demolition operation. Artillery fire targeted the area between the towns of Mifdon and Zoutr Al-Sharqiya. The Israeli military also carried out extensive search operations in the towns of Al-Khayam and Al-Qantara, burning down houses in Al-Qantara during these operations. Artillery shelling also hit the outskirts of the town of Kafrshuba in the Arqoub region, the outskirts of the town of Hadatha in the Bint Jbeil district, and the Wadi Zabeqin area in the Sour district. Additionally, an Israeli military operation destroyed a house on the road from Kafrshuba to Tella Sadana and Shabaa, demolishing its contents.
The Lebanese National News Agency reported that the Israeli military operations have resulted in significant civilian casualties and property damage. The Lebanese Ministry of Health's Emergency Operations Center announced that the cumulative toll of the Israeli aggression since March 2, 2026, has reached 4,389 fatalities and 12,428 injuries. The total number of casualties since October 8, 2023, has risen to 8,956 fatalities and 30,664 injuries.
These escalations come amidst ongoing Israeli violations in South Lebanon, despite political efforts and negotiations between Beirut and Tel Aviv, mediated by the United States. The direct Israeli military offensive resumed on March 2, 2026, following the deterioration of previous ceasefires. Implementation of agreements related to security arrangements and Israeli withdrawal continues to face obstacles and ongoing violations.
