Moroccan Front Criticizes Exclusion of SAMIR and Fuel Price Reforms

The National Front for the Salvation of the Moroccan Petroleum Refinery has criticized the Moroccan government for excluding the SAMIR refinery and fuel price reforms from its program. The front argues that ignoring these issues raises questions about the government's credibility. The front has called for a comprehensive plan to secure petroleum supplies in the short term and strengthen energy sovereignty in the medium and long term. It also urged the government to address disruptions in national fuel supply, noting that renewable energy sources make up only 10% of national production.
The front expressed surprise at the absence of the SAMIR refinery and fuel price reforms from the government's program, despite their inclusion in election campaigns by political parties from both the majority and opposition. Regarding SAMIR, the front emphasized the need to restart the refinery and utilize its refining and logistics capabilities, citing high refining margins and risks from external supply disruptions.
On fuel prices, the front demanded a reversal of deregulation and a return to price controls to mitigate the impact of price fluctuations on inflation and living costs. It warned that the current situation increases pressure on citizens' purchasing power and weakens the competitiveness of Moroccan contractors. The front also pledged to continue advocating for these issues and to coordinate with various stakeholders to develop national petroleum and gas industries, add value to the Moroccan economy, create jobs, protect workers' rights, and support local and regional development.
