An armed attack on a rural village in Nigeria's Taraba State has left at least 50 people dead, according to survivors. The assault occurred on Friday when armed men, believed to be from criminal gangs, targeted the village of Binyeri on motorcycles. The attackers targeted residents and looted shops, prompting some villagers, including women and children, to flee towards a nearby river.

Survivors reported finding seven bodies immediately after the attack. Additional bodies were discovered in the river the following day, raising the death toll to 50. Initial reports on Saturday indicated that 20 people had been killed, but further search operations revealed more victims.

Bashir Mamuda Musa, a resident of the village, confirmed the discovery of the bodies. The attackers were reported to have used motorcycles, a common tactic in such assaults. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, but similar incidents have been linked to criminal activities and inter-communal violence in the region.
