Crows Outpace Humans and Monkeys in Decision-Making Speed

Researchers at the University of Tübingen have discovered that crows make decisions significantly faster than humans and monkeys. The findings, published in a recent study, reveal that crows can identify the direction of a moving dot pattern and indicate their choice in just 235 milliseconds on average, while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
The experiment involved two carrion crows, which were presented with visual stimuli to test their decision-making speed. The crows were required to identify the direction of a moving dot pattern and communicate their choice. The results showed that the crows made decisions in half the time it takes humans and monkeys to perform a similar task.
Despite their speed, the crows maintained a high level of accuracy in their decisions. This suggests that crows possess advanced cognitive abilities that allow them to process visual information quickly and efficiently. The study highlights the remarkable decision-making capabilities of these birds, which have long been known for their intelligence and problem-solving skills.
