Moroccan authorities intercepted a 24-year-old Moroccan man attempting to smuggle 6.2 kilograms of cocaine through the Sebta border crossing on Sunday night. The attempt was foiled by customs and security forces working in coordination. The suspect, a resident of the Spanish city of Murcia, was driving a Spanish-registered Mercedes vehicle.

The operation took place around 11 PM, with the drugs discovered hidden inside the vehicle's fuel tank to evade border checks. The suspect was arrested and handed over to the anti-drug squad of the judicial police in Tétouan for further investigation. The public prosecutor's office ordered the transfer, aiming to uncover more details about the case and potential accomplices.

The seizure highlights the ongoing efforts by Moroccan authorities to combat drug trafficking, particularly at border crossings. The use of creative concealment methods, such as hiding drugs in fuel tanks, poses significant challenges to law enforcement. The incident underscores the importance of coordinated efforts between customs and security forces in detecting and preventing such activities.
