Abu Dhabi's NMDC Group Expands into Oilfield Services with Emdad Acquisition

Abu Dhabi's NMDC Group has completed the acquisition of a 70% stake in Emdad, a service provider for the energy, utilities, and industrial sectors, and rebranded the company as NMDC Emdad.
The acquisition was finalized in June 2025, with the transaction financed through a combination of debt and equity. The rebranding, announced on Thursday, marks a new phase in the company's evolution and reflects its deeper integration into the broader NMDC Group ecosystem.
According to a statement from NMDC Emdad, the transition will not disrupt day-to-day operations. The existing management team, employees, client relationships, contracts, and operational facilities remain unchanged to ensure continuity for partners and clients.
The new identity is intended to reinforce the company’s ability to draw on the scale, technical depth, and asset strength of NMDC Group. This acquisition allows NMDC Group to expand into the operating expenditure segment of recurring revenues in oilfield services, diversifying its portfolio and strengthening its competitive position.
Emdad, now NMDC Emdad, provides a broad range of services, including well intervention, waste management, shutdown and turnaround work, coil tubing, and valves. With core capabilities in well services, asset integrity, and maintenance, NMDC Emdad will offer clients integrated solutions designed to optimize asset lifecycle value and operational efficiency.
The company reported revenues of over $163.4 million in 2024, with equity of $59.1 million. NMDC Emdad has played a role in supporting the UAE’s energy sector for more than four decades, delivering upstream and downstream services, and technical expertise.
Mohamed Thani Murshed Ghannam Al Rumaithi, chairman of NMDC Group, emphasized the group's commitment to leveraging combined capabilities to create value for shareholders and partners. “This milestone reflects our growth mindset and reinforces our commitment to supporting the UAE’s national ambitions in driving meaningful economic growth within our vital sectors,” Al Rumaithi said.
