Magenta Plains, a contemporary art gallery in New York City, is celebrating its 10-year anniversary with a retrospective exhibition. The gallery, located at 149 Canal Street, is showcasing groundbreaking technology-influenced installations, sculptures, and paintings from its decade-long history. The exhibition, titled '10 Year Anniversary,' is open to the public until October 31.

Magenta Plains was founded in 2015 by Olivia Smith, Chris Dorland, and David Deutsch. Smith, who had a thriving career running Exhibition A on the Upper East Side, was approached by Dorland and Deutsch about opening a gallery on the Lower East Side. The trio sought a name that was expansive and open-ended, ultimately settling on Magenta Plains. The gallery's original location was a ground-floor storefront on Allen Street.

The gallery has since outgrown its original location and now occupies a 4,500-square-foot space. Over the past decade, Magenta Plains has become a significant player in the Downtown contemporary art scene, featuring works by numerous artists. The gallery has also helped define what the Downtown contemporary art scene can offer the world.
