Morocco Waives Fees for Diphtheria Treatment in Northern Region

The Moroccan Ministry of Health has announced that patients with diphtheria or suspected cases will be exempt from medical fees in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region. This decision, effective immediately, ensures prompt medical intervention without delay. The directive, issued by Mohammed Akkari, the director general of the regional health group, emphasizes the importance of immediate medical care for diphtheria patients.
The directive mandates that no financial burden be placed on patients or their families for diphtheria-related healthcare services. It also stresses the importance of immediate care for suspected or confirmed cases, ensuring that administrative or financial procedures do not hinder necessary medical procedures.
This measure is in response to the current epidemiological situation of diphtheria and is based on the provisions of ministerial decision No. 2284.05, published in the Official Bulletin No. 5412 on April 13, 2006. The directive calls on healthcare institutions to disseminate the information widely and enforce it strictly, ensuring that patients receive the necessary healthcare services without financial or administrative barriers.
