Moroccan Footballer Ayoub Onahi to Miss Up to Five Months After Surgery

Ayoub Onahi, the Moroccan international footballer playing for Panathinaikos in Greece, underwent successful surgery on his right leg on Thursday. The operation aimed to repair a complete tear in his right hamstring. The club announced the procedure's success on their official X account, stating that Onahi will begin a specialized rehabilitation program starting Friday to prepare for his return to competitive play.
Onahi sustained the injury during a match against Asteras Tripolis on October 18. The game, part of the Greek Super League, ended with a 5-1 victory for Panathinaikos. Onahi was forced to leave the field on a stretcher in the 19th minute.
Panathinaikos' medical team, led by Harris Lalos, along with orthopedic surgeon Nikola Loufiver and Christophe Bodo, the medical consultant for Paris Saint-Germain and the Moroccan national team, performed the surgery.
Achraf Hakimi, a Moroccan international playing for Paris Saint-Germain, visited Onahi shortly after the surgery. Panathinaikos shared a photo of the two players together in the hospital.
Onahi is expected to be sidelined for between four and five months, though this could change depending on his recovery and response to the rehabilitation program.
