Polish President Cuts Senegal Visit Amid Court Protests

Polish President Andrzej Duda cut short his visit to Senegal and returned to Poland on Friday, as protests erupted at the Constitutional Court in Warsaw. Large crowds gathered outside the court building, including prominent opposition figures.
Among those present were Jarosław Kaczyński, leader of the opposition Law and Justice party, former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, and former Constitutional Court President Julia Przyłębska. The police established a security perimeter around the court building.
Duda's abrupt return came as tensions escalated in Warsaw. The protests were sparked by recent political developments, with the opposition accusing the ruling party of attempting to undermine the independence of the judiciary. The Constitutional Court has been a focal point of contention, with the opposition arguing that recent judicial reforms have politicized the court.
The situation in Warsaw has drawn international attention, with media outlets both in Poland and abroad reporting on the developments. The protests reflect broader political tensions in Poland, where the ruling party and the opposition have been at odds over judicial reforms and the balance of power between the executive and judicial branches.
