French Fighter Jets to Land in Chad for First Time Since 2025

French fighter jets are scheduled to land in Chad in the coming days, marking the first such visit since January 2025. The French military confirmed the news on October 29, stating that two Mirage 2000 jets and a CASA transport aircraft will make a brief technical stopover. The visit will include training exercises as part of a larger operation planned for November in Côte d'Ivoire and Gabon.
The French military described the visit as a resumption of cooperation between the two countries. The stopover will be the first since the withdrawal of French troops from Chad at the end of January 2025.
According to the French military, the jets will engage in short-term technical activities and training during their stay. The visit is part of a broader military exercise scheduled for November, which will also involve operations in Côte d'Ivoire and Gabon.
The French military has emphasized that this stopover is purely technical and part of a larger military exercise. The visit is seen as a significant step in the resumption of military cooperation between France and Chad, following the withdrawal of French troops earlier this year.
